WHO team arrives in Wuhan to investigate pandemic origins


A global team of researchers arrived Thursday in the Chinese city where the #coronavirus pandemic was first detected to conduct a politically sensitive #investigation into its #origins amid uncertainty about whether #Beijing might try to prevent embarrassing discoveries. Scientists from the World Health Organization (WHO) have arrived in the Chinese city of Wuhan more than a year after the first coronavirus cases were reported there.

The group has finally been allowed access to investigate the origins of the pandemic.

It comes as the country's north is battling a spike in cases, and reported the first death from the virus in eight months.

A team from the World Health Organization has arrived in Wuhan, China, to begin its investigation into where and how the coronavirus first started. The team of 10 scientists will work to figure out how the virus jumped from animals to humans, but getting answers may not come easily. CBS News Asia correspondent Ramy Inocencio reports from Wuhan.

With a World Health Organization team now in Wuhan to investigate the origins of Covid-19, the country's chief epidemiologist tells NBC News' Janis Mackey Frayer that the scientists should look elsewhere.
