Virus contact tracers navigate tricky, vital roles


A growing number of health professionals are filling an important role in the effort to guard against a resurgence of the coronavirus. Contact tracing is a hybrid job of interrogator, therapist and nurse, as they coax nervous people to be honest. (May 21)

Contact tracers are vitally important during the coronavirus pandemic as they work to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Public health experts have fast-tracked an online training to fill an urgent need for more disease detectives.
The death toll in Massachusetts is nearly 2,000, as newly hired contact tracers call anyone who's tested positive, then alert others who came within six-feet of them.
