UK to boost COVID immunisation drive with mass vaccination sites

Description:

As the UK accelerates its vaccination programme, its chief medical officer has issued a dire warning about the capacity of hospitals to treat the rising number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients.
The outbreak continues to surge and severe restrictions will likely be in place for another three months.
The British government is opening mass vaccination centres across the UK to boost capacity, as part of efforts to accelerate the rollout of COVID-19 inoculations that the government wants to deliver to all vulnerable people by the middle of next month.

Al Jazeera's Jonah Hull reports from one of the vaccination centres in North London.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said in a briefing Monday that the state will open three mass vaccination sites, including Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and Petco Park in San Diego, to help combat a surge in coronavirus cases. The state saw a record 1,163 deaths in a two-day period over the weekend, and intensive care unit capacity in several regions in the state is severely limited. Watch his remarks.
