States Deal With New Surge Of COVID-19 Cases


As COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surge across the Midwest, some states have finally imposed restrictions to slow the spread of the virus.

Texas has seen over 1 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, and one city that has been hit particularly hard is El Paso. Dr. Ogechika Alozie, an infectious disease specialist in El Paso, joins CBSN to discuss how the state is coping with the pandemic.
Colombia ranks fifth in the world for the number of COVID-19 cases with nearly 820-thousand. The country is a month into reopening its economy, after a strict quarantine. Part of the re-opening measures is allowing restaurants to re-open. CGTN's Michelle Begue has this story from Colombia.
