Several biotech firms are racing to develop an effective COVID vaccine. One company in San Diego, California, says it might already have a viable product, but, as CGTN's Alasdair Baverstock reports, there are several challenges to getting it onto the market. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres today launched a new report:
Shared responsibility, global solidarity: Responding to the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19. along with a
new multi-partner Trust Fund for to support low-and middle-income countries in coping with the coronavirus. The report shows that a coordinated approach is the best way to "recover better" and that it starts now with the responding to COVID-19. The United Nations has a global plan demonstrating leadership and preparedness to accompany countries every step of the way. The Secretary-General and the United Nations are promoting inclusive response measures and accompanying countries to ensure that households and people are not left behind as businesses and economies are supported. Everyday life continues to change for people across the country as COVID-19 spreads. Chuck Todd says, "For many of us, it's hard to fully grasp how suddenly, and dramatically, our daily lives have changed as we've climbed this curve." A US surgeon is out with graphic images of the lung damage COVID-19 can cause. He released them partly to counter the idea that coronavirus mostly attacks the elderly. CGTN's Owen Fairclough reports.
