President-elect Biden begins transition with COVID-19 advisory board

President-elect Joe Biden is beginning his transition to the White House with the announcement of his COVID-19 advisory board to tackle the pandemic. It comes as President Trump has not yet conceded and is pushing forward with election-related lawsuits. CBS News' Debra Alfarone reports and joins CBSN with the latest.

President-elect Biden is scheduled to meet Wednesday with workers and small business owners who have been affected by the pandemic-driven economic crisis. It comes as a small group of bipartisan senators introduced details about their COVID-19 relief plan Tuesday. CBS News political correspondent Ed O'Keefe joined "CBSN AM" with the latest.
President-elect Joe Biden and his transition team will be taking responsibility for the nation's coronavirus response and the rollout of vaccines in the midst of an unprecedented health crisis. Dr. Celine Gounder, an NYU epidemiologist and member of Mr. Biden's coronavirus advisory board, joins "CBSN AM" to discuss how the team is preparing.
President-elect Joe Biden's $1.9-trillion COVID-19 relief proposal quickly drew criticism from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle in Congress after he unveiled the plan Thursday.

Biden's proposal includes $20 billion for a national vaccination program, $1,400 stimulus checks and raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour. But progressive lawmakers wanted bigger checks and some Republicans argue the plan doesn't do enough to restart an economy decimated by the pandemic.

Dr. Brian Monahan, the attending physician at the U.S. Capitol, has been working to identify any individuals who had contact with the members who tested positive, according to guidance from the Office of the Attending Physician sent by House officials to members earlier this year.
The plans for President-elect Biden's inauguration in January will involve appropriate Covid-19 safety measures. Adrienne Elrod and Dr. David Kessler, both of the inaugural committee, join Morning Joe to discuss. Aired on 12/16/2020.
