President Donald Trump delivers his 2020 State of the Union Address to a Joint Session of Congress.

President Trump declined to shake the hand of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi before his speech.

The speaker then did not include the customary introduction of: "I have the high privilege and distinct honor of presenting to you the president of the United States." Instead, she just said, "Members of Congress, the president of the United States."

After his address, Pelosi ripped up her copy of his speech.


House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) defended her decision to rip up President Donald Trump's 2020 State of the Union address.

In an interview with CNN Pelosi also said that the Senate's acquittal of Trump on impeachment charges did not mean he was "vindicated."
