Driven by strong winds, two fires spread quickly in Orange County, destroying at least one home and critically injuring two firefighters.
The Silverado fire broke out in Orange County on Monday morning amid conditions forecasters were calling the most dangerous fire weather of the year.
The United Kingdom government is facing pressure over a technical issue that meant it missed nearly 16,000 cases of COVID-19.
It led to a jump of 23,000 on Sunday.
Because they were overlooked, many who came in contact with the infected people could not be informed.
