National security expert raises concerns about U.S. strike that killed Iranian general


Iran is promising revenge after the targeted killing of one of its top military leaders. President Trump authorized a drone strike that killed General Qassem Soleimani near Baghdad International Airport. Kelly Magsamen, vice president of national security and international policy at the Center for American Progress, joined CBSN to discuss the possible consequences.

This comes after former National Security Adviser Joe Maguire warned about Russia's meddling in the 2020 election.
The White House has fired a National Security Council official who testified under subpoena in the impeachment inquiry into President Trump. Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman told Congress what he heard on the phone call between Mr. Trump and the president of Ukraine.
