Moderna announces COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough


The company says its vaccine appears to be nearly 95% effective. The announcement comes just a week after Pfizer announced its COVID-19 vaccine progress.

Biotech company Moderna said on Monday that early analysis from its phase 3 trial shows its Covid-19 vaccine is 94.5 percent effective at preventing the infection, offering hope of a second breakthrough in as many weeks. Aired on 11/16/2020.
With infections surging worldwide, and governments struggling to respond, there has been another breakthrough in the hunt for a COVID-19 vaccine.
US pharmaceutical firm Moderna says early tests show its vaccine is 94.5 percent effective in preventing the virus.
Pfizer and BioNTech reported similarly promising results a week ago.
