Iran imposes nationwide COVID-19 restrictions but no lockdown


A slew of new restrictions, including partial lockdowns and curfews, came into effect across Iran on Saturday as an alarming surge in COVID-19 infections continues unabated.
Authorities are closing most non-essential businesses and clamping down on travel between major cities to try and slow the spread.

British Prime Minister Boris #Johnson imposed a tiered system of further #restrictions on parts of England as the #Covid-19 outbreak accelerates, though anger is rising at the cost of the stringent curtailment of freedoms. Johnson's three-tiered local lockdowns will include shutting bars, gyms, casinos and bookmakers in some areas placed into the "very high" alert level. FRANCE 24's Bénédicte Paviot tells us more.
The Prime Minster apologised after giving the wrong answer to a question about COVID-19 restrictions in the North East.

Boris Johnson incorrectly said people could ignore the 'rule of six' restrictions when meeting outdoors.

He later tweeted that those in the North East should also "avoid socialising with other households outside".
Ontario introduced a number of stricter public health measures following a record-high number of new COVID-19 cases, but the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario says the new restrictions are "too little, too late."
Sky News understands all of Nottinghamshire is to go into Tier 3 COVID- 19 restrictions on Friday.

Four of the area's eight local authorities- Nottingham City, Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe - had already been preparing to enter Tier 3 restrictions at midnight this evening. S
