Hurricane Iota slams Central America as Category 4 storm


Iota is expected to bring up to 30 inches of rain to Central America after making landfall in a region recently devastated by Eta.

The powerful storm made landfall overnight just 15 miles from where Eta devastated the area earlier this month.

Hurricane Iota has weakened to a tropical storm as it pushes across Central America.
It hit Nicaragua as a Category 4 with howling winds and massive surf, forcing tens of thousands of people from their homes.

Packing record-breaking winds and unleashing torrential floods, storm Iota hit Central America on Tuesday, causing swollen rivers to burst their banks, flipping roofs onto streets, and killing at least three people.
