How designer Christian Siriano is helping New York fight the pandemic
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo appealed for assistance in overcoming shortages of masks and other personal protective equipment (PPE) in the country's worst-hit state. Fashion designer Christian Siriano tells CNN's Chris Cuomo why he answered the call to help.
New York state is producing and distributing its own hand sanitizer amid reports of price gouging.
"We're introducing NYS clean hand sanitizer, made conveniently by the state of New York," Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) announced Monday. "This is a superior product to products now on the market."
Cuomo said the state's product is 75 percent alcohol compared to name-brand competitor Purell, which is made of 70 percent alcohol. Health officials recommend using a hand sanitizer made of at least 60 percent alcohol.
The New York product also has a "very nice floral bouquet" scent, Cuomo added.

And the borough of Queens is feeling that more acutely than anywhere.
Elmhurst Hospital is already crammed over capacity and in one 24-hour period 13 people died from COVID-19.
This comes as the apex of patients is yet to hit.
