Government Watchdog: Trump Admin Violated Law By Withholding Ukraine Aid

Description:

The Government Accountability Office found that the Trump administration violated the law by withholding aid to Ukraine. NBC News' Ken Dilanian has details on the reports findings. Aired on 01/16/20.

President Donald Trump has ousted the Pentagon's top policy official who had certified last year that the Defense Department had seen enough anti-corruption progress in Ukraine to justify releasing congressionally authorized aid. (Feb. 19)
The Trump administration has requested $2.5 billion in funding to fight the coronavirus outbreak, but Democrats and some Republicans say the government's response has been inadequate. CBSN political contributor Molly Hooper and Politico White House reporter Nancy Cook join CBSN to discuss the details.
On today's What America's Thinking, Hill Reporter, Morgan Chalfant, joins Hill TV to breakdown the Trump administration's latest efforts in fighting COVID-19. A new Hill/HarrisX poll finds 61% of voters agree the Trump administration is taking strong enough measures to stop or slow the spread of the virus. Karlyn Bowman, public opinion analysis and senior fellow at AEI, explains the "rally effect" and how it could be impacts a president's approval during times of crisis and Democratic strategist, Kristian Ramos talks about the effect of Trump's handling of the pandemic.

The Hill/HarrisX survey was conducted online within the United States from March 14-15, 2020 among 2,001 registered voters by HarrisX. The sampling margin of error of this poll is plus or minus 2.19 percentage points. The results reflect a nationally representative sample of registered voters. Results were weighted for age within gender, region, race/ethnicity, income, political party, and education where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the population.
Rachel Maddow looks at reports of how the Trump administration is still making a mess of managing the flow of medical equipment to the places that need it, and hears from Nick Vyas of USC's Marshall School of Business on how the federal government could take a lesson from commercial supply infrastructure.
