The captain of a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier facing a growing outbreak of the coronavirus on his ship was fired Thursday by Navy leaders who said he created a panic by sending his memo pleading for help to too many people. (April 3)
Secretary of Defense Mark Esper defends the removal of Captain Brett Crozier after he wrote a memo warning about a coronavirus outbreak aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier.
At least 100 sailors on board a United States aircraft carrier have tested positive for the new coronavirus.
The captain of the Theodore Roosevelt told the Pentagon the virus is spreading "uncontrollably".
But Defense Secretary Mark Esper says it is not the right time to move the people from the ship.
