De Blasio Announces Task Force To Crack Down On Illegal Firework Sellers


During a press briefing, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced the creation of a multi-departmental "illegal fireworks task force" to crack down on sellers and suppliers of illegal fireworks. The task force will comprise of 40 officers from the FDNY, NYPD and the sheriff's office.

President Trump on Wednesday announced he would deploy federal agents to some U.S. cities, part of an effort to crack down on a rise in violence. But the move is getting push back from several mayors. CBS News correspondent Skyler Henry joined CBSN to discuss.
New York City will delay the start of in-person classes for most of its students which was set to begin Monday, and students will be allowed to return on a rolling basis. Mayor Bill de Blasio joins Morning Joe to say he's confident most students will return by October 1. Aired on 09/18/2020.
