Coronavirus: Scientists in the US race to find a vaccine


Scientists in the US are racing to find a vaccine for the novel coronavirus.
Government agencies, universities and several private companies are involved in the effort.

Al Jazeera's Heidi Zhou-Castro visited a lab in the US state of Maryland, where researchers say they are making some progress.

Scientists around the world are racing to find a vaccine for COVID-19. That includes the Center for Structural Genomics of Infectious Diseases, a consortium of nine labs in eight schools in the United States and Canada.
CGTN's Dan Williams spoke to the head of that group about the importance of its work.
Scientists are testing whether existing FDA-approved drugs can fight novel coronavirus.
