Bolsonaro takes off mask while announcing he tested positive for COVID-19
Brazil's president Jair Bolsonaro says he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The politician - who has previously dismissed the disease as a 'little flu' - said he began feeling unwell on Sunday but insists his condition has improved since having treatment.
He said he is taking the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine and the antibiotic azithromycin.

After telling reporters he tested positive for COVID-19, Brazilian President Bolsonaro removed his mask to show the cameras how he looked. He even took a couple of steps back from journalists and took off his mask at the end of his news conference - so people could see in his face that he appeared well.

The populist politician has caused outrage in Brazil by ignoring lockdown measures and refusing to wear a mask in public. He also previously dismissed the disease as a "little flu".
The country has recorded over 65,000 deaths and 1.6m infections, second only to the United States. Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro has tested positive for COVID-19. Sometimes referred to as "the Trump of Brazil," Bolsonaro has widely played down the risk posed by the coronavirus and has not practiced social distancing, even as Brazil's COVID-19 death toll surpassed 66,000. Tom Hanks, another famous coronavirus patient, has now fully recovered, and said that taking precautions like wearing a mask "should be so simple." Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has also tested positive for COVID-19.
