Bolivia to choose new president after year of post-Morales upheaval


Bolivia votes in the first round of presidential elections on Sunday - 12 months after disputed polls sparked mass protests and the downfall of the country's controversial leftist leader Evo Morales. FRANCE 24 takes a look back at the Latin American country's year of turbulence.

Chile will hold a referendum on Sunday on whether to write a new constitution.
Most people are expected to vote in favour.
A new constitution will help end a year of political and civil unrest, as other countries have done.

Kyrgyzstan's president has resigned after weeks of political turmoil.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov had been facing daily protests since the disputed parliamentary election earlier this month.
The vote sparked widespread demonstrations, with accusations it was rigged in the government's favour.
Since then, some leading politicians have been forced out, there is a new prime minister and another election has been promised.
