Biden calls for premium pay for frontline workers


Joe Biden is calling for extra premium pay, free and regular COVID testing and paid sick leave for the nation's essential workers, from healthcare employees to those who work in grocery stores and meatpacking plants. (May 4)

Freddy Martinez can't cut hair right now, but customers have been showing up at the California barber's shop anyway. Martinez says he has been living in his Glendale shop for weeks to keep his distance from his daughter at home, who has a medical condition. The arrangement has allowed Martinez to be present at the barber shop for his clients who have been showing up to pay him for future services.'s Mara Montalbano has more.
In imposing its nationwide lockdown, Portugal has taken extra steps to look after thousands of asylum seekers giving them full rights and access to the country's healthcare system.
Now some are giving back to frontline workers donating their time to prepare thousands of meals for those who need them most.
During a press conference, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo shared antibody testing results for essential workers and says the reason frontline workers' infection rate is lower is due to them consistently wearing masks.
As pedestrian walkway over New York's Hudson River was lit up to honor frontline workers. The message on the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park in Poughkeepsie was more than 200 feet long.
