At least 18 dead after Air India plane crashes in Kerala

Description:

An Air India plane has crashed at Calicut International Airport after overshooting the runway, killing at least 18 people and injuring 127 of the 191 passengers onboard.

The Boeing-737 flight was repatriating Indians stranded in Dubai due to COVID-19.

This was India's worst passenger aircraft accident since 2010.

A passenger plane in India has skidded off the runway while trying to land at an airport in Kozhikode - also known as Calicut - in the southern state of Kerala. At least 18 people are dead and dozens injured. The Boeing 737, operated by Air India Express, was returning from Dubai, with 190 passengers and crew on board. Heavy monsoon rain and the tabletop runway appear to have had a role in the crash. Indian Prime Minister Modi tweeted his condolences to the victims loved ones.
At least three migrants were killed, and another is missing after their boat caught fire, Sunday, August 30, off the coast of Italy, as seen in Italian Coast Guard footage.
