Donald Trump has "mild symptoms" but is in "good spirits" after contracting coronavirus, a White House official has said.

The US president and his wife Melania are self-isolating after testing positive for COVID-19, just one month before the US election.

White House chief of staff Mark Meadows told reporters on Friday that President Trump "continues to be, not only in good spirits, but very energetic".

He added: "I'm optimistic that he will have a quick and speedy recovery."

Even more concerning for Mahomes is the potential danger his high school sweetheart Brittany and their unborn child could be facing as a result of possible virus transmission. The couple has decided to sleep in separate bedrooms and stay away from each other for the sake of the baby's health.
