African Americans Are The Base Of The Democratic Party. But They Are No Monolith

Description:

MSNBC Correspondent Trymaine Lee examines the nuances among Black voters in South Carolina, where they are the majority of Democratic primary voters. This is the first installment of The Race Report, a series that looks at the intersection of race and politics. Aired on 2/13/2020.

The televised feed of President Trump's impeachment trial is controlled by the Senate production staff, meaning the actions of the senators listening to the trial are out of the view of cameras. CBS News political reporter Grace Segers spoke to CBSN's "Red & Blue" about what's happening out of frame.
DNC Chair Tom Perez called on the Iowa Democratic Party to recanvass the results of the Iowa Caucus. Chuck Todd says, "If you thought the situation for Democrats out of Iowa couldn't get any more chaotic, you'd be wrong."
With only three weeks to the Iowa caucus, a feud between long-time progressive allies changed the tone of the race. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, who have known each other for years and worked closely together in the Senate, have always presented a united front, and have refrained from going after each other during the democratic primary. But their differing accounts of a private meeting in 2018 led to a very public split this week, and could lead to a fracturing of the progressive movement they have both worked to build.
Dozens of leaders from around the world are gathering in Jerusalem ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Monday. They're also marking 75 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp. The millions of Jews murdered in the Holocaust -- or the Shoah as it's also called are commemorated at the Yad Vashem memorial. DW's Tania Krämer visited Yad Vashem and saw how it's keeping the memory of the Holocaust's victims alive for younger generations.
