13 Americans Infected With Coronavirus On Cruise Ship In Japan

Description:

The coronavirus has infected 64 passengers aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship, including 13 Americans. The ship quarantined near Tokyo. NBC's Molly Hunter joins Alex Witt to discuss the situation.

The potentially deadly coronavirus is being blamed for more than 900 deaths, including one American. The outbreak aboard a cruise ship in Japan is getting worse with more than 130 cases confirmed, including more than two dozen Americans. CBS News foreign correspondent Debora Patta joined "CBSN AM" from Hong Kong with more.
At least 130 people have tested positive for the coronavirus aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship docked off the coast of Japan. Among the passengers on the vessel quarantined since the ship arrived in the port of Yokohama last week are Cheryl and Paul Molesky. Meanwhile, health authorities in China say more people there have fallen victim to the coronavirus. But thousands of people were allowed to disembark from the World Dream cruise ship in Hong Kong after a four-day quarantine resulted in passengers testing negative for the virus.
Rebecca Frasure is one of at least a dozen Americans of the 135 cases from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Yokohama, Japan, under quarantine.
As the number of deaths rises from the spread of the coronavirus, the U.S. Embassy says Americans will be able to leave Japan after the quarantine.
